Mercadito Craft fair at the Rumble Arts Center

Just following up on the Mercadito Craft fair at the Rumble Arts Center. For the center's first ever show, there was a good turn out, it was pouring down with rain in the early hours, but later on the sun came out and the people came in. I only displayed my Visionary Art Caps! by Kandi-o, it went over well. My good friend Maria from MGReyes crochets pull tab purses and many other things participated in the show and my sister in-law Lieli from Toxic Ink with her fun and funky digital art. I met a few new crafty artist's, Crafty McSchnafty knits unique one-of -kind pieces "even for your fruit!", Mother of Hermes Press designs and prints custom images for cards and stationary and Etsian True partners in craft, silk screens totes, creates unique photo collages and needle points.

Just wanted to share a few new pieces I'm working on for Easter and spring.
My flowers have been around awhile, but I'm taking out the black background for a brighter effect. I'm also trying out a new bezel cap for a more soft dainty romantic look. I went to a wedding cocktail reception Saturday Feb. 6th, it was in a art gallery with no art. All the art was removed for the reception.
Since I've been studying like a maniac for my Brokers license, I hadn't been out in awhile, it was nice to get dressed up and just hang out. My cameras on the blink, so I took a few pictures on my cell. Somehow I missed the bride and groom together, oh well, cheers!

Getting down to the wire

I have been a Real Estate Developer for 10 years.
Now 25 plus beautiful residences later, I'm glad to say I'm ending my developing days and the headaches that came with it or moved in, LOL, good riddance!
The countdown is on, the last three months I have been studying for my Real Estate Brokers license.
This week I go for my final exam to get my transcript, If all goes well, I'll be taking the state exam!
Then onto another adventure, opening soon! Rent Inc.apartment leasing, "If you can't sell, rent".

Have you ordered something and have been completely taken in by the product and the packaging? When I was in the fashion business doing the Pret in New York, presentation was key to catching a prospective buyer, and of course having a quality product. I do my fair share of buying, and receiving a product in impressive,creative or pretty packaging adds that extra WOW, creating a distinctive image and lasting impression on your customer. Next time you make a sale, think about the big picture, when your product arrives, is your customer going to be as impressed with your packaging, as with the piece they purchased?

The first snowfall is here in Chicago. Driving down the street under the trees is just beautiful, it's like being under a huge white frosty arch. We only have about three inches, but I thought to share a few snowy pictures with everyone. There's a kind of peace that comes with the snow here.

I held a private craft show this past weekend with, Lydia's by design, who had her hand crafted decoupage pieces and toxic ink, with her unique graphic prints. The turn out was not bad, everyone wanted to have a party, which it turned out to be, but "thank goodness", I do have some great friends who really support "all things art related" that purchased lots of Kandi-o designs and Visionary Art Caps! pieces. I'm thinking to do one more before Christmas, or maybe I should throw a party and then sell, hmmmm, lol.

I try to stay away from the main stream of ideas in crafting and has been difficult for me to break down and give in to it, just to possibly gain a profit. But, since profit is part of the goal, I have taken the advice of friends and family to make holiday themed bottle caps, so I have started working on themed pieces for Christmas, and I actually like them," go figure".
I have taken buttons, gift wrappings and do dads to bring in the Christmas cheer with these new balls of holly bottle cap pieces. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Should we have the option to show our shop sales? When I see low sales on a shop that has been around a year or so, it makes me question if I should purchase from it, "sad but true". Customers being able to see sold items is great because this might help them in their selection, but do we need to show sales if we are not proud of our low sales?. What do you think? Etsy forums

What I was working on in June

I did'nt design much jewelry in June, I was busy with my interior design and development co. I don't usually take on remodels, but the financial times call for it. I wanted to share with you the finished product.
I selected Ikea cabinets, multi colored glass backsplash, green butterfly granite, Benjamin Moore overcast for the walls and Nora drop lighting, I reinstalled the old appliances to keep the cost down.

A Thoughtful Birthday Gift!

I was very surprised on my birthday, May 29th, by my great friend Lydia of Lydia's by Design, with a custom jewelry supply caddy with removable magnetic front, pull out shelves, drawer and outside hooks for hanging tools, decoupaged in a silver metalic, white and grey heart geometric pattern.

Hi, I'm Kandace Tisdale a.k.a. Kandio,
I live in "The Windy City", Chicago, Illinois. I have two wonderful children, Nathan 13, and Claudia 9. I am a Real Estate Developer, I have been building single family homes for the last ten years, designing timeless interiors and exteriors including my own.
I majored in fashion design at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. I managed a high end fashion design company called Su-zen for seventeen years.
Besides jewelry and being a web junkie in my spare time, I luv entertaining, pottery, drawing and playing classical music on the piano.
My luv for the creative arts started back as far as I can remember, my Mom was a concert pianist, painter and literary Artist, my Dad indulged in singing opera, my older brother was a lead guitarist, writer and all out rock star and my sister a dancer, MTRIP. I used to dig up clay in the back yard to make sculptures, designed paperdoll clothes and would draw till my crayons were nubs.
Many of you on MIM unknowingly have inspired and motivated me to develop further into creating and promoting my jewelry, thank you, Anne, Kerri, Lise and Nathalie.
